The TTC said an electrical fire in Wilson Yard impacted the transit agency’s ability to get its extra subway cars into service on Line 1 ahead of Monday’s afternoon rush hour.

Power had to be cut because of the fire, the TTC said in a social media statement, meaning only 38 subway trains were running on Line 1, rather than the 55 that are usually deployed during rush hour.

“Barring any other disruptions, we estimate waits of up to six minutes instead of the usual three minutes,” the transit agency said.

The TTC promised that extra staff would be available in busy interchange stations to “monitor and manage potential crowding.”

The transit agency is also invoking the “reverse GO protocol,” allowing customers to take GO services for the cost of a TTC fare within city limits.
