The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is reminding riders this Saturday and Sunday there will be no subway service on a portion of Line 1 (Yonge-University).

The weekend closure will occur between St. Clair West and King stations so crews can do track-level work.

"While the TTC does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work," the TTC said in a news release.

A frequent shuttle bus will run in place of the service, as well as extra accessible Wheel Trans buses for any customer requiring assistance.

Several subway stations will also be closed to accommodate the maintenance and upgrades. There will be no access to Dupont, Museum, Queen's Park, St. Patrick and Osgoode stations, the TTC reported.

At Spadina Station, the Kendal Avenue entrance will also be closed.

"All other subway stations and entrances will be open for customers to load Presto cards, purchase Presto tickets, and connect to surface routes," the TTC said.

The work will continue next week, meaning service on the same portion of Line 1 will end nightly at 11 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Meanwhile, some TTC routes will be adjusted this weekend due to the presence of other work crews.

Beginning at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, the 506 and 306 Carlton streetcars will divert due to Toronto Hydro work at College and Bays streets. Service will divert both ways via McCaul, Dundas and Parliament streets. Replacement buses will operate from Gerrard and Parliament streets, along Carlton Street, before continuing on College Street and Spadina Avenue, up to Spadina Crescent Loop.

On Saturday from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., service on the 65 Parliament bus route will divert due to a crane lift on Dockside Drive. This work will also take place daily from Monday to Thursday between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Buses will redirect via Richardson Street, Lake Shore Boulevard East and Lower Sherbourne Street.
