Torontonians looking to journey across town this weekend will be met with an extensive Line 1 subway closure for the second weekend in a row.

There will be no subway service on Line 1 from King to St Clair West stations on Saturday and Sunday to enable crews to conduct track-level work, the TTC said.

Shuttle busses will run in place of the subway service, making a stop at each station along the route.

Extra Wheel-Trans buses will also operate between St Clair West and Queen stations.

King station is not currently accessible — and won't be until June 2025 when an escalator outage is expected to end. The TTC has encouraged riders with accessibility needs to exit at Queen station and speak with a TTC staff member for assistance.

Several subway stations will be closed as a result of the Line 1 service outage. There will be no access to Dupont, Museum, Queens Park, St Patrick and Osgoode stations. The Kendal Avenue entrance at Spadina station will be closed this weekend.

Other stations along the route closure will remain open for customers to purchase Presto fares and connect to surface transit routes.

The 6.5-kilometre stretch of Line 1 from King to St Clair West stations was also closed last weekend. TTC officials said the closure is to work on several projects, including an effort to remove "reduced speed zones" from St. Andrew to Union stations.

If hauling your Christmas shopping onto a shuttle bus isn't how you'd like to spend your weekend, perhaps the holiday purchases can wait until a weekday.
