The Parkside Drive speed camera is once again out of commission after it was sawed off at its base again on Friday night.
The camera had just been replaced in the wake of an identical act of vandalism two weeks prior.
On Saturday afternoon, a city contractor was at the site to turn off power to the camera and seal its wires for safety purposes. The felled device had not yet been removed from the site.
The speed camera has issued over 61,000 tickets since its installation in April 2022.
Parkside Drive sits just east of High Park. It’s a major north-south thoroughfare connecting Bloor Street to Lake Shore Drive and the Gardiner Expressway.
In the nearly 1,500 collisions on the street over the last decade, three people have been killed and five seriously injured.
Earlier this month, city council voted to move ahead with a $7.5-million bike lane project for the street in hopes of making it safer.
