Streetcar service has resumed in the King Street West and Spadina Avenue area, three days after a garbage truck damaged overhead streetcar wires at the intersection.
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) said repairs were completed on Friday morning.
However, the intersection will remain closed to motorists until the city is able to de-ice the roadway. The TTC did not provide a timeline of when this work would be completed.
A TTC spokesperson earlier told TorontoToday the garbage truck bin "hit the wires" and caused the damage. A Toronto Police Service spokesperson called the damage "extensive."
Looks like the GFL truck just ran through King and Spadina with its bin up. That will be one hell of a bill.

The 504 King and 508 Lake Shore streetcar services have resumed regular routing. The 510 Spadina buses will return once vehicles are permitted on the roadway.
Crews worked around the clock to repair the damaged streetcar wires.
TTC CEO Greg Percy thanked "everyone for their tireless efforts to complete this work quickly and safely," as well as TTC customers "for their patience during the closure."
"This complex intersection has multiple intertwining cables and connectors supported by multiple poles," he detailed. "All of this infrastructure had first to be inspected to determine the extent of the damage."
Percy said crews had to re-string the cables and restore power following the inspection.
"I want to recognize everyone’s hard work and dedication to getting this done," Percy said.
