University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University launch basketball series

The universities' new basketball series, Metro Hoops Classic, will host two doubleheaders beginning Nov. 1, with a second match slated for Jan. 29, 2025

Starting Friday, The University of Toronto (UofT) and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) are taking their basketball rivalry to new heights.

The Varsity Blues and the University Bold — UofT's and TMU's respective varsity basketball teams — are launching the Metro Hoops Classic, a new series featuring both the men's and women's basketball teams in two doubleheaders. 

Lindsey Craig, a communications and public relations spokesperson for TMU, wrote in a press release, "Toronto’s rich basketball culture, from the streets to the stands, has seen tremendous growth in recent years, and Metro Hoops is set to become a showcase for that energy and passion."

The first event takes place on Friday evening at UofT's Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport. Tickets can be purchased here.

The second doubleheader will be played on Jan. 29, 2025 at TMU's Mattamy Athletic Centre. Tickets can be found here.
