The City of Toronto and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) are unveiling renovation plans at BMO Field on Monday in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
BMO Field — or Toronto Stadium, as the city is calling it — will be undergoing major "game-changing" renovations to enhance the building as Toronto is set to host six matches starting in June 2026.
Announcements will also be made for permanent legacy enhancements for Toronto sports fans, the city said.
BMO Field is currently the home stadium of soccer club Toronto FC and the football team Toronto Argonauts, who are the reigning Canadian Football League Grey Cup champions. MLSE owns both teams, as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors.
Deputy Mayor Ausma Malik and Sharon Bollenbach, executive director of FIFA World Cup 26 for Toronto, will be speaking at the event. Adam van Koeverden, a member of parliament and the parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Sport and MLSE's chief operating officer, Nick Eaves, will also be in attendance.
The announcement starts at 1:30 p.m. and includes a virtual walkthrough of the stadium's transformation as well as new renderings and detailed renovation plans.
