NDP incumbent Peter Tabuns won re-election in Toronto—Danforth.

Toronto—Danforth is a provincial riding in Toronto’s east end that encompasses Leslieville, Riverside, Riverdale, the Danforth’s Greektown and parts of East York.

Provincially, it has been represented by the NDP since its creation in 1999. Tabuns has been the MPP for the riding since 2006. Federally, it flips between the Liberal Party of Canada and the NDP; it is currently held by Liberal MP Julie Dabrusin.

During his 19 years in the legislature, Tabuns has held a suite of opposition critic positions, often focussed on energy and climate change files.

He has sponsored bills that aim to ban fracking and to increase climate change liability on the oil and gas industry. He also wants to create a public health action plan to deal with the impacts of climate change on Ontarians’ health.

Tabuns was running against Ontario Liberal Party candidate Connor Taras, a former competitive sport kayaker; PC Party candidate Adam Ratkowski, a recent graduate from the University of Guelph; and Green Party of Ontario candidate Orlando Wright.
