Roncy? Roncy's? Roncies?
A local coffee shop has ignited a light-hearted debate online thanks to their new billboard ad that shortens the word "Roncesvalles" in a seemingly unconventional way.
While promoting their location at Dundas Street West and Roncesvalles Avenue, Jimmy's Coffee refers to their west-end location at "Dundas and Roncy's."
A user on Reddit uploaded a picture of the billboard questioning whether there should be an apostrophe: "It shouldn't say Roncy's, right?"
The post generated nearly 300 comments, many of which — but not all — were in agreement that the neighbourhood and street name is shortened to "Roncy."
Ok correct me if I’m wrong but it shouldn’t say “Roncy’s” right?

"I live in the area and everybody calls it Roncy," one person wrote.
"I grew up there and we all called it 'Roncys,' with an s, but we all spelled it 'Ronces,'" another commenter said. "People started calling it 'Roncy' once the big dig finished in 2011 and all the Polish businesses left. But the apostrophe is clearly wrong."
The billboard can be found on top of a car wash at College Street and Lansdowne Avenue.
TorontoToday paid a visit to Sorauren Park and asked locals what they thought about the sign. It's safe to say the opinions were pretty one-sided.
