A newly formed non-profit supported by 226 auto dealers across the country has announced a $1-million donation to the SickKids Foundation.
Hyundai Hope On Wheels, a charitable and non-profit entity, officially launched in Canada to support pediatric cancer patients and survivors through research funding and raising awareness about childhood cancer.
“All of us at SickKids Foundation are extremely grateful to Hyundai Canada for its generous contribution and dedication to pediatric cancer patients and their families,” Jennifer Bernard, president at the foundation said in a release.
“Long-term investments into pediatric research are vital to improving patient care and the formation of Hyundai Hope On Wheels in Canada is a pivotal moment for pediatric cancer research funding across the country," Bernard added.
Dr. Jim Whitlock, head of hematology/oncology and the director of the Garron Family Cancer Centre at SickKids, accepted a cheque for $1 million on behalf of the hospital foundation at an event on Monday.

A handprint ceremony invited children and families affected by cancer, alongside donors, researchers and supporters, to dip their hands in paint and place their handprints on a Hyundai vehicle, symbolizing the collective fight against cancer and hope for a cure.
“We’re proud to contribute to SickKids Foundation as we launch Hyundai Hope On Wheels in Canada,” said Steve Flamand, executive director of sales and digital strategy for the auto dealers.
“As an organization committed to driving progress for humanity, supporting the fight against childhood cancer is one of the most impactful ways we can make a difference.”
Hyundai Hope On Wheels plans to distribute research and support grants to institutions and organizations across Canada focused on improving outcomes and treatments for children diagnosed with cancer, with more than $4 million set to be donated in 2025.
