Hungry Torontonians whose travels take them through Union Station will have access to a popular new U.S. "fast-casual" restaurant, known for its smash burgers, crinkle cheese fries, frozen custard — and, in this case, alcoholic beverages.

Following the successful debut of its first Canadian location at Yonge-Dundas this year, Shake Shack has announced two new locations in Toronto set to open their doors this winter.

Shake Shack Union Station will be one of the few locations worldwide to feature a full bar and specialized cocktails, the company said in a release.

"Whether grabbing a quick bite on the way to a game or enjoying a leisurely meal before catching a train, guests will appreciate the convenience and vibrant atmosphere of this iconic location."

The downtown space will feature artwork by Toronto-based illustrator Pui Yan Fong.

"Pui Yan's diverse background and passion for storytelling through illustration brings to life the energy of Union Station and the surrounding neighbourhood," the company said.

The other new location is Shake Shack Yorkdale, which will be decorated by Vivian Rosas, a Toronto-based queer Mestizx/Latinx illustrator known for her depictions of feminism, empowerment and diversity.

"Toronto has been incredibly welcoming, and we're excited to further our presence in the city with these two fantastic locations," said Billy Richmond, business director of Shake Shack Canada.

"Both Union Station and Yorkdale Shopping Centre offer unique opportunities to engage with our guests in new ways, and we look forward to becoming a part of these lively hubs."

Since opening its original location in NYC's Madison Square Park in 2004, the company has expanded to over 510 locations worldwide.
