March break is here, and that means students are back at home.
This year, March break is happening from March 10 to 14, and schools will be closed for the week.
If you're wondering what to do to make the most of the week, TorontoToday has you covered.
March break in the city
Many of the cities' attractions are available for free with a Toronto Public Library card through tpl:map passes.
Toronto Zoo - 2000 Meadowvale Rd.
The zoo is always a fun day trip for the family, or an enjoyable camp experience for kids.
Toronto Zoo is running two separate camps for children ages four to 10. The camps offer indoor and outdoor experiences, behind-the-scenes opportunities and games and crafts. They run from Monday to Friday starting at 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Families can register their children on the zoo's website.
Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) - 100 Queens Park
A day of education and fun with the family is always possible at the ROM. Canada's largest museum, it is home to a collection of 18 million artworks, cultural objects and natural history specimens.
The museum is currently featuring exhibits on Auschwitz, Nature in Brilliant Colour and Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2024.
Tickets can be purchased online.
Ripley's Aquarium of Canada - 288 Bremner Blvd.
Interested in seeing what life in the underwater world looks like? Look no further than Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, located downtown right beside the CN Tower.
The aquarium has sharks, green sea turtles, groupers, stingrays, jellyfish and more, including an entire exhibit dedicated to Canadian waters.
Families can purchase tickets online.
K1 Speed - 75 Carl Hall Rd.
For the families looking for a more fast-paced activity, a North York K1 Speed location offers go karting at speeds of up to 45 km/h.
The venue has both junior and adult races. K1 Speed says its electric carts offer a safer experience with a higher performance.
Racers can walk-in without a reservation or book up to seven days in advance.
Toronto Railway Museum - 255 Bremner Blvd.
Do you love trains and railways? Well you're in luck, as the Toronto Railway Museum is open for March Break from March 8 to 16.
The museum is located in Roundhouse Park and covers Toronto's railway history.
Tickets for adults are $14 while youth (ages 4 to 16) admission is $5.
Ontario Science Centre - 235 Queens Quay W. and 25 The West Mall
The beloved Ontario Science Centre has been moved to separate temporary locations until the Ontario Place location is ready in 2029.
Families can visit the satellite locations at Harbourfront Centre downtown or at CF Sherway Gardens shopping mall in Etobicoke.
Both locations have extended hours for March Break.
Lumière: The Art of Light - Ontario Place
A free outdoor light exhibition is opening up at Ontario place starting on Monday. It will feature 14 installations created by Ontario-based artists.
There will be bonfires at the Trillium Park fire pit every night during March Break from 6 until 10 p.m., if weather permits.
This light festival's theme is "Neon Dreams: Light and Colour" and will run until April 4.
