Toronotonians looking for a taste of the Philippines this month won’t have to travel to Manila to experience the culture or savour authentic adobo.

Beginning Friday, a four-week Filipino Christmas night market will be hosted on Queen Street West, with traditional foods, handcrafted items, music and activities for all to enjoy.

The PASKO Filipino Holiday Artisan Night Market is free to attend.

“Pasko” means “Christmas" in Tagalog, one of the major languages spoken in the Philippines.

The night market will allow Filipino small business owners to reach a new customer base throughout the month, showcasing “the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines."

“Expect an immersive experience with décor, music, activities, and more to transport you to the Philippines,” organizers advertised.

Attendees can expect cultural performances, cooking demos, a karaoke and photo booth and interactive workshops for crafting and other activities.

The PASKO Filipino Holiday Artisan Night Market begins Friday and will run through to Dec. 22 at 1692 Queen St. W.

The night market will be open Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m to 11 p.m. The market will close an hour earlier on Sundays, remaining open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The first 20 visitors to the market during its soft launch this weekend will receive a special gift bag.
