Toronto rapper Top5, also known as Hassan Ali, has been arrested and charged as part of a firearms investigation, according to Toronto Police Services (TPS).
In 2024, Ali had a charge of first-degree murder stayed by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and was set free after three years in custody, after which he thanked rapper Drake in an Instagram post.
According to the TPS, on Friday, Jan. 24, officers executed a search warrant in the Enterprise Boulevard and Birchmount Road area in Markham.
Hassan Ali, 26, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a weapon; careless storage of a firearm, weapon, or prohibited device; possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, and two other gun-related charges.
Another man, Yasin Ali, 29, of Toronto, was also taken into custody and faces six gun-related charges.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10 a.m., in room 106.
