A man has been arrested in connection to an east end bank robbery on Feb. 27, Toronto police said.
Officers were called to the area of Parliament Street and Gerrard Street East around 8 p.m. after reports of an armed robbery.
Police said a lone male suspect entered a bank wearing a mask as a disguise and allegedly pulled out a handgun to threaten employees and customers.
The man then reportedly demanded cash and forced a bank employee into the vault where a large quantity of money was stolen.
He then fled the area, police said.
The suspect, 41-year-old Tyrone Christey of Toronto, was identified after an investigation.
On Wednesday, a search warrant was carried out by police and Christey was arrested.
Police said a replica handgun and stolen cash was recovered during the search.
Christey has been handed seven robbery and weapons related charges, including robbery with an offensive weapon, disguise with intent and forcible confinement.
He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday at 10 a.m.
Anyone with more information about the case has been asked to contact police at 416-808-7350 or to submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers online or at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
