Suspect sought in Christmas Eve robbery, assault

If located, do not approach, call 9-1-1 immediately

Toronto Police are looking for a man who is wanted for an assault, then a robbery on Christmas Eve.

Police were called to the Queen Street West and University Avenue area just before 5:30 p.m.

Officers were told the suspect approached the victim, then choked her without provocation.

Then at 6:50 p.m., it’s alleged the suspect went into a business in the Yonge Street and Wellesley Street East area and threatened an employee with a hammer before taking multiple items without paying for them.

Police are looking for 36-year-old Byron Johnson of no fixed address.

He is described as 6-feet-tall and 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. 

He was last seen wearing a black winter jacket, a white sweater with the hood up, khaki pants, white shoes, and had a brown backpack.

If located, police say do not approach, call 9-1-1 immediately
