A suspect in a Toronto homicide who was on Canada's Most Wanted List has been arrested in Saskatchewan, Toronto police say.
The Saskatoon Police Service executed a search warrant at an apartment on Friday and arrested an Ontario man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
Jabreel Elmi, 30, of Toronto is facing one count of first degree murder in the death of Thane Murray, 27, and two counts of attempted murder.
The murder was Toronto's 61st homicide of 2021.
On the night of Sept. 18, 2021, police responded to a call for a shooting in the Oak Street and Sumach Street area.
Multiple gunshots were heard in the area and officers arrived and located three men suffering from bullet wounds.
Two of the wounded were taken to hospital while Murray was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two suspects were previously arrested and charged with first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.
After Elmi's arrest, a Canada-wide arrest warrant remains in effect for Rajahden Angus Campbell, 22, of Toronto.
In previous news releases, police have described Campbell as armed and dangerous and said if he is located, do not approach but call 911.
Arrangements are being made to return Elmi to Toronto to face charges, police said.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Elmi is considered innocent until proven guilty.
