A portion of River Street is currently closed after a truck hit a pole and started leaking gas on Wednesday afternoon in the Riverside neighbourhood.
Toronto police said the single vehicle collision, which occurred around 12:30 p.m., has necessitated the River Street closure between Bayview Avenue and Gerrard Street East.
Police said officers were on scene.
No injuries have been reported.
As of about 2:15 p.m., Const. Stephanie Miceli of the Toronto Police told TorontoToday there was no estimate on when streets would reopen.
Drivers have been urged to avoid the area.
