Toronto police said a dog owner who called authorities after their pet was stabbed in Ramsden Park on Tuesday was arrested for allegedly being the one to perpetrate the stabbing.
The owner, who has not been identified publicly, called police shortly after 4 p.m. to report their dog had been stabbed while walking through the park.
Officers from the Toronto Police Service (TPS) arrived at the scene and the dog was taken to a veterinary hospital with multiple stab wounds.
The dog's owner initially provided police with a description of a suspect, which TPS released on social media. Over four hours later, police said the original complainant in the case had been arrested and there are no outstanding suspects.
The dog is in stable condition and is expected to recover from its injuries.
Police did not specify the breed of the dog.
Official charges in the case have yet to be announced.
