An Ottawa man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault at the Keele subway station.

The Toronto Police Service (TPS) said officers responded on Saturday, Dec. 14, at around 1:40 a.m. to the incident, which took place on the westbound platform.

Police say a man assaulted a woman and pulled her to the ground, then sexually assaulted her.

A witness interrupted the assault and the man fled on foot.

The victim sustained minor injuries, according to a TPS news release.

Police said the victim and man were not known to each another.

Earlier, police had released a suspect photo in connection with the case.

On Dec. 18, Michael Jonathan Laclef, 35, of Orleans, Ont., was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Finch Avenue West.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Laclef is considered innocent until proven guilty.
