The Toronto Police Service (TPS) said a man charged in connection with an assault on another man in a Parkdale residence last winter is now charged with second degree murder.
Alan Mychaluk, 63, died of his injuries on Nov. 23 — exactly 10 months after police were called to reports of an assault at a multi-share residence in the Fuller Avenue and Queen Street West area.
Mychaluk was transported to hospital with critical injuries after the Jan. 23 incident, the TPS said in a release.
Police said the suspect, who was known to the victim, was charged with aggravated assault and failure to comply with a release order.
Following Mychaluk's death, police said the accused was located and re-arrested on Tuesday.
Timothy Graves, 56, of Toronto has been charged with second degree murder.
He appeared at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Finch Avenue West on Wednesday.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Graves is considered innocent until proven guilty.
