Toronto police have asked the public for help locating a newly identified suspect in connection to a fatal shooting in the Moss Park neighbourhood earlier this month.

At a press conference on Friday afternoon, Det. Sgt. Alan Bartlett said police are searching for 24-year-old Dellano Robertson-Berry of Toronto.

The Toronto Police Service (TPS) has charged Robertson-Berry with second degree murder in the Sherbourne Street and Queen Street East shooting.

On Feb. 5, victim Lyle Pounall was shot in the area and sustained life-threatening injuries.

Pounall, 43, died in hospital.

TPS has not revealed what preempted the shooting. The victim and suspect are not believed to have known each other.

Authorities do not have reason to believe the shooting is gang-affiliated.

Today, police said Robertson-Berry is armed and dangerous and should not be approached in public. He is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

"If you were in the area of the shooting at the time — if you saw anything, if you heard anything, if you have any video of the incident — I'm encouraging you to contact the police," Bartlett said.

Anyone who may see Robertson-Berry is asked to call 9-1-1 or their local police service.

"I also want to make it clear that if you know the whereabouts of Mr. Robertson-Berry and you are providing him with assistance in evading capture, I would caution you against that. There are, of course, criminal charges associated with that," Bartlett said.

The detective sergeant then made a plea to Robertson-Berry himself and encouraged him to seek legal council and surrender to police.

Robertson-Berry has been described as being 5'7" with a medium build.

This is the third homicide instance in Toronto this year.

TPS maintains there is no threat to public safety.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400 or to submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers online or at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
