Man charged with attempted murder after Moss Park attack

Toronto police say the man attacked the victim following an argument, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries

Toronto police have arrested and charged a 62-year-old man with attempted murder after he allegedly attacked another person inside a residential building in the Moss Park neighbourhood. 

The Toronto Police Service (TPS) said the man, Teodoros Emanuel, attacked the victim following an argument on Saturday, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries. 

The argument occurred while the two were standing in the lobby of a residential building near Sherbourne and Shuter streets, TPS reported. 

Emanuel allegedly left the lobby and returned "a short time later" with an unspecified weapon, which police said was used to strike the victim from behind.

The victim was transported to hospital. Authourities have yet to provide an update on the victim's condition. 

Emanuel and the victim are known to each other, police said. 

It is not clear what Emanuel and the victim were arguing about. 

Emanuel has been charged with attempted murder and possession of weapon dangerous to public peace.

He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Sunday at 10 a.m.
