Police released two images of a man wanted in connection with a convenience store robbery.

Police say a man brandishing a knife robbed a west-end convenience store on the weekend. The force released images in the hopes of arresting a suspect.

The Toronto Police Service (TPS) said officers responded to reports of a robbery in the Bloor Street West and Dufferin Street area last Saturday.

Police said a man entered a convenience store and grabbed several items before going to the cash. He then "pretended to pay by concealing his card with his thumb."

The suspect then quickly exited the store with the items, before being confronted by an employee.

Suspect fled

That's when the man brandished a knife, pointing it towards the employee, according to a TPS news release.

Police said the store employee ran away and the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

The man is described as 35 to 45, about five-foot-eight to five-foot-nine with a medium build and short dark beard.

He was wearing a black hoodie, black sunglasses, a black or navy blue “Dickie’s” hooded jacket, dark blue jeans and black New Balance running shoes.

Anyone who recognized the man was asked to contact police at 416-808-1400, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or www.222tips.com.
