Ontario’s Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) has finished their investigation at the site of a fatal house fire on Friday afternoon in the Danforth area, which claimed the life of one person.

OFM spokesperson Sean Driscoll confirmed details in an email on Monday.

The Toronto police X account reported that a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at hospital Friday after being removed from the house at Logan Ave. north of Danforth Ave.

A block of Logan Ave. between Ainsworth Rd. and Arundel Ave. was closed Friday evening.

Toronto Fire crews were on the scene, putting out the fire and clearing smoke.

"Toronto Fire crews arrived and reported heavy smoke during their initial primary search," said fire spokesperson Bill Papakonstantinou. "They rescued one occupant, transferred care to EMS, extinguished the fire, and did our typical salvage overall operations, which means we're looking for any heat migration and making sure all the smoke is clear."

Firefighters also checked the other half of the semi-detached house, Papakonstantinou said.

"We will always check adjacent homes, for sure."

Over the weekend, OFM and police vehicles could be seen at the house, and investigators were coming in and out of the area.

The investigation will now move on to analyzing evidence taken from the scene, Driscoll said.

Toronto police have not yet been given a copy of the report, a police spokesperson said Monday.
