A man was arrested on Friday after an alleged assault on a downtown police parking enforcement officer who had just written a ticket.
The reported incident occurred around 8 a.m., shortly before police arrived to the Church Street and Queen Street East area.
Police said a parking enforcement officer was conducting a rush hour check of parked vehicles and issued a ticket.
The vehicle owner then approached the officer and began to argue before allegedly assaulting the parking official, police said in a press release delivered Wednesday.
The officer suffered minor injuries. The driver was arrested.
Guo Cheng, 54, of Toronto, was charged with assaulting a peace officer in connection to the incident.
He is scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Court of Justice on Dec. 17.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Cheng is considered innocent until proven guilty.
