The fire resulted in road closures with westbound Queen Street East and King Street East blocked from Lower River Street.

What was described as a garbage fire was put out by Toronto Fire Services and roads were reopened about an hour later.

Running under the bridge are Bayview Avenue and train tracks and the Lower Don River Trail.

It was the second recent fire under an elevated downtown roadway in the past two weeks.

On Dec. 10, smoke could be seen rising from under the Gardiner Expressway after fire crews were called about a fire near Spadina Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard West.

Toronto Fire Services later ruled out a nearby homeless encampment as the cause of the blaze. No injuries were reported.
