UPDATE:

Police say a package left at track level at the Bloor-Yonge subway station Sunday afternoon has been deemed not to be suspicious.

The station has been reopened, police said in a social media post just before 3:30 p.m.

The TTC said regular service had resumed between St. George and Broadview stations.

EARLIER REPORT:

Weekend travel for subway riders just got a little more complicated.

The Bloor-Yonge subway station was being evacuated this afternoon after discovery of a suspicious package, Toronto Police say.

In a social media post at 2:47 p.m. Sunday, police said officers were on scene investigating an unattended package at track level.

Riders were being urged to consider alternate routes.

The TTC was advising of no service on Line 1 Yonge-University between College and St. Clair due to a "security incident." Shuttle buses are on the way, the transit agency said.

A section of the Yonge-University subway line was already closed this weekend from St. Clair West to King for planned track work.

TorontoToday will update this story as information becomes available.
