Portion of Bathurst St. closed amid reports of a gas leak, police say

UPDATE:

The gas leak at Bathurst Street between Front Street West and Wellington Street West has been contained and roads are now reopened. 

Toronto police said Enbridge Gas has controlled the leak.

Regular TTC service in the area has resumed. 

ORIGINAL STORY:

A portion of Bathurst Street between Front Street West and Wellington Street West was closed both ways on Thursday morning due to reports of a gas leak in the area. 

Around 8:30 a.m., Toronto police said officers were notified about a potential gas leak at a construction site nearby.

Police are currently on the scene alongside Toronto Fire Services. 

There have been no injuries reported. 

Motorists and commuters in the area have been told by police to expect delays. 

Further information about the gas leak has not yet been provided.

The TTC has already said several above ground transit routes have been impacted by the gas leak. 

As a result, there is currently no service for the 511 Bathurst streetcar between Queen Street West and Exhibition Loop. Shuttle buses are running between the affected portion of the route. 

The 510 Spadina streetcar route has also been impacted and will be taking a detour southbound via Adelaide Street West, Blue Jays Way and Richmond Street. The  510D Spadina streetcar route will detour northbound via Front Street, Blue Jays Way and Richmond Street.
