Armed man assaults Yorkville store employee who turns down fake Rolex

Police say man in yellow turban fled in white Mercedes sedan after trying to sell a fake luxury watch

An armed man who tried unsuccessfully to sell a fake high-end watch at a shop in Yorkville is wanted by the Toronto Police Service in connection with an assault earlier this week.

Police said on Tuesday at around 2 p.m., officers responded to a call for a person with a gun in the Yorkville Avenue and Bellair Street area.

Police said the man entered a luxury watch store and attempted to sell a fake Rolex.

The person at the store recognized that it was not an authentic watch and declined to buy it.

'Northface' winter jacket

That's when the man assaulted the victim before fleeing in a vehicle.

The man is described as between 30 and 40 years old and tall — between six-foot-two and six-foot-five. He had a medium to large build.

Police said the suspect was wearing a yellow turban with a gold-coloured pin at the front, a black "Northface" winter jacket and a black face covering.

He had on light blue jeans, yellow and black shoes with white soles (possibly "Nike") and black gloves.

The vehicle he fled in is a white 2017 or 2018 Mercedes CLS model sedan, with the "CLS" model identifier removed.

Anyone with information on the man was being asked to contact police at 416-808-5300, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), or www.222tips.com.
