The Toronto Police Service (TPS) on Saturday announced the arrest of a man and woman in connection to the murder of Darapheakdey "Daral" Sovann, who died after sustaining serious injuries during an attack in The Annex last month.
Sovann, 27, was wounded in the area of Bloor Street West and Madison Avenue, near Spadina Avenue, on Jan. 26.
Police responded to a call about a wounded person and discovered Sovann with serious injuries. First aid was administered at the scene and Sovann was transported to the hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Police said the incident is the city's first homicide of 2025.
On Saturday, TPS said two suspects were arrested in connection to Sovann's death.
Brooklynn Walsh, 24, of Oshawa, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.
She was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on Jan. 30.
Cameron Brown, 21, of Oshawa, has also been arrested and charged with second degree murder.
He was scheduled to appear in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre Feb. 1.
TPS said there are no outstanding suspects at this time.
