A man who was previously reported missing in the Danforth area has died after a 10-day search, according to family members.
The Toronto Police Service (TPS) said Andrew Sutton, 29, was last seen on Feb. 16 around 5 a.m. in the area of Danforth and Coxwell avenues.
On Wednesday, Sutton's family announced he was found on Tuesday morning, but did not provide additional details about his death.
Friends and family of Sutton have papered parts of Toronto with missing person posters since his disappearance. They were previously holding hope Sutton would return home to his wife, Maddi, and 1-year-old daughter, Daisy.
TPS confirmed Sutton was found this week but told TorontoToday further information could not be shared.
The cause of Sutton's death is so far unclear.
The Toronto Star reported Sutton left his home in the middle of the night "during a mental health crisis."
A GoFundMe established after he was first reported missing has raised nearly $29,000 for his family. Ken Robinson, Sutton's father-in-law, created the page to ask for donations to help Sutton's family pay "bills such as rent, child care and basic groceries."
On the fundraising page, Robinson announced Sutton's death and said the family is "waiting for details from the police which may take some time."
A second GoFundMe page was created on Wednesday after Sutton's death, also seeking financial support of his family. The creator — identified as Kristen Evans, the best friend of Sutton's sister — said donations will go towards funeral arrangements, time-off from work, life expenses and mental health awareness.
"Andrew was an amazing soul in many ways.. so genuine, funny, kind, talented and simply a gem to be around," Evans wrote. "He is so loved by many, and will be deeply missed by us all."
