Winterlicious, Toronto's special fixed price promotion that has brought diners into restaurants for more than 20 years, may benefit from a special boost this year — the GST holiday.
A temporary halt on the goods and services tax that was implemented by the federal government will continue until Feb. 15, two days after this year's Winterlicious event wraps up.
The city said this year more than 230 restaurants have signed on to offer three-course prix fixe menus, featuring everything from traditional favourites to contemporary fusion and global flavours.
"With menus that cater to every palate and pocket it’s the perfect time to explore the city’s best bites," the city said.
Winterlicious will run from Jan. 31 to Feb. 13.
The city said this year's prices are:
Lunch: $20 / $27 / $34 / $41 / $48 / $55
Dinner: $25 / $35 / $45 / $55 / $65 / $75
"It is strongly recommended that you make reservations, however it is not required," the city said.
Reservations can be made starting Jan. 16.
To reserve a table, contact the restaurants directly and indicate you are booking for Winterlicious.
"If you cannot make your reservation, call and cancel as soon as possible so the restaurant can offer your table to another party," the city urged.
On weekends, it is recommended diners indicate that they are booking for Winterlicious as some participating restaurants do not offer the lunch promotion on Saturday or Sunday.
