Repeatedly unsold Toronto home listed for auction starting at $1

A home near College Street and Ossington Avenue has been unsuccessfully listed for sale several times, though realtors boast its biggest pull is “Location! Location! Location!”

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to sell a four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood, realtors have initiated an auction with bids starting at $1.

The semi-detached home is located at 472 Crawford St., near College Street and Ossington Avenue.

An open auction for the three-storey residence has begun, with its realtor boasting about the home's “Location! Location! Location!”

“Calling all investors, handymen, renovators, and future homeowners! This is a fantastic opportunity to renovate this home into whatever you want,” the property listing reads.

The Crawford Street home has been placed on the market several times, but has never sold.

In 2014, the house reportedly sold for $670,000. It was listed for sale again in 2020 at over $1.29 million.

The 2020 sale was eventually suspended.

In September, the home was posted for about $899,000, until that listing was also terminated.

The property includes a covered front porch and a back deck with a patio. A home inspection has not been completed, but is available upon request, according to the property listing.

Only time will tell how high the bidding for 472 Crawford St. will jump.

The property listing did not include a closing date for the auction.

The median sale price for semi-detached property in Toronto has fallen 4 per cent on a year-over-year basis, according to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board. In the third quarter of 2024, the median cost of a semi-detached home in Toronto is $980,000
