If you love the movie Titanic, the music of Céline Dion and musical comedy, then Titanique is for you.
The all-Canadian production of New York City's must-'sea' musical is set to sail into Toronto’s CAA Theatre in early December and will run until Jan. 12.
"When the music of Céline Dion makes sweet Canadian love with the 11-time Oscar-winning blockbuster film Titanic, you get Titanique, off-Broadway’s most award-winning splash hit, which turns one of the greatest love stories of all time into a hysterical musical fantasia and joyful slay-fest," Mirvish Productions said in a release.
Titanique had its world premiere off-Broadway in New York City in 2022. The musical continues to sell out night after night.
The production, which is part of the 2024/2025 off-Mirvish season, has won numerous awards and received its fair share of glowing reviews.
"Near, far, wherever you are, Céline Dion will be there, in this camp reimagining of the maritime blockbuster that revs up into increasing absurdity," wrote a The New York Times reviewer.
The New York Post called the show "sensational, hilarious and deranged" and deemed Titanique "the funniest musical in town!”
Véronique Claveau, a star across French-Canada, is playing Céline Dion. An actor, singer and dancer, Claveau was hailed as “a true queen of musical theatre” by Radio-Canada and has won acclaim for her imitation of Dion.
"Just leave it to Céline Dion to enchant the audience with her totally wild take, recharting the course of Titanic’s beloved moments and characters with her iconic song catalog," Mirvish advertised.
Including such hits as My Heart Will Go On, All By Myself and To Love You More – backed by the energy of a full live band – Mirvish has called Titanique a "one-of-a-kind theatrical voyage bursting with nostalgia, heart, and campy chaos."
Tickets for the Toronto engagement range from $59 to $119 are on sale now at mirvish.com or by calling 1-800-461-3333.
