A new online registration system will be put to the test Tuesday as Toronto residents begin signing up for winter recreation programs run by the City of Toronto.
With around 17,000 registered courses and close to 162,000 spaces, the city's winter programming includes swimming, skating and day camps.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 for Toronto, as well as East York, Etobicoke and York. On Wednesday, Dec. 4, program spots open for North York and Scarborough.
Last month, the city unveiled a new registration system for booking spots in recreation and cultural programs. It replaces eFun, a decades-old program that was unpopular with the public.
The system will improve the user experience and be responsive on mobile phones, the city said. People interested in courses are being encouraged to create an account and a ‘wish list’ before registration begins.
Residents will have access to online, in-person and telephone support during the registration period.
Several community centres will be open for in-person help from 7 a.m. to noon on Tuesday and Wednesday.
