Nosferatu
If watching a horror film on Christmas Day puts you in the festive spirit, Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake. Featuring Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp, the film opens Dec. 25 at Cineplex Cinemas Yonge-Dundas and Varsity Cinema.
The Brutalist
When visionary architect Laszlo Toth and his wife, Erzsebet, flee Europe to rebuild their legacy and witness the birth of modern America, their lives are changed forever by a mysterious and wealthy client. With an award-winning cast featuring Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones, The Brutalist chronicles the vision of an artist but also the powerful love story of a couple who must struggle to protect themselves against a patron whose dark influence threatens to destroy everything they have built. Babygirl
In Babygirl, Nicole Kidman portrays Romy, a high-powered CEO who risks her career and family by entering into a dangerous affair with her much younger intern, Samuel (Harris Dickinson). Billed as a steamy psychological drama, Babygirl is on at the Fox Theatre on Queen Street East in the Beaches on Dec. 25.
It's a Wonderful Life
Do you have all your shopping done? While it's not a new movie, the afternoon before Christmas is a great time to celebrate the day George Bailey’s life turned around for the better in the all-time favourite Christmas classic It's a Wonderful Life. The 1946 masterpiece featuring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed is playing on the big screen at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24 in 4K restoration at Revue Cinema.
