Fans of musical theatre will be treated to a special holiday concert this weekend by performers from four Mirvish Productions currently running in the city.
The Distillery District says it will host more than 50 cast members from the musicals Come From Away, Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Titaníque, and Disney’s The Lion King this Sunday, Dec. 15, to perform in A Very Merry Mirvish Holiday Concert.
The show runs from 7 to 8 p.m., emceed by radio personality Azalea Hart.
The evening will include songs from each production and holiday classics under the District's massive Christmas tree.
Standing 55 ft. tall, the tree is designed by Christian Dior Parfums. It's decorated with 70,000 lights and 1,000 custom 3D Dior fragrance bottle decorations. An estimated 4,000 hours of work went into getting the tree ready for the holidays.
Musical highlights on Sunday will include holiday singalongs, including “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “Winter Wonderland,” as well as two songs from each Mirvish show.
The performance will feature welcoming remarks from Mayor Olivia Chow.
Audience members will also have the chance to win premium tickets to Mirvish shows in Toronto, the production company said in a release.
The concert, on the Trinity Street stage, is free with entry to the Distillery's Winter Village. Check for tickets at www.TheDistilleryWinterVillage.com.
