Torontonians looking up on Friday night may have noticed an addition to the CN Tower's nightly light show: maple leaf symbols projected onto the tower's main deck.

It's a statement of Canadian unity against the U.S. tariffs, said a spokesperson for the tower, and will continue to appear at night.

"Our decision to project the maple leaves now was to celebrate Canada and to stand tall in the face of the current threat of tariffs," said a spokesperson for the CN Tower in a statement to TorontoToday. "We plan to continue to project the maple leaves as a symbol of Canadian strength and unity for the foreseeable future."

The maple leaves are just one of many ways the CN Tower is showing Canadian pride while the tariffs are in place.

The tower will be lit in red and white at the top of each hour every night, said the spokesperson, and the landmark building will also be flying Canadian flags, and spotlighting Canadian beer, wine and spirits on their restaurant menu.

The CN Tower has a cafe on the ground floor, a bistro on the main observation deck, and a fine dining establishment called 360 The Restaurant.

They spokesperson said the building will also be "redirecting procurement to Canadian suppliers and Canadian-owned businesses."

On Friday, the CN Tower posted a video to Instagram with the caption "The True North strong and free: We are Canada's National Tower."

The video shows the maple leaf projections and highlighted Canadian-themed items available at the tower  — as well as the changeover from an "Americano" on their coffee menu to a "Canadiano."

Some Torontonians also shared images of the new projections on social media.
