For some, trying to register for the city's recreation and cultural programs online has been a headache that has lasted years.

Are these migraine-inducing days finally behind us?

The City of Toronto is set to launch a new "user-friendly" system for program registration and facility bookings next month.

The modernized system, launching Nov. 6, will make it easier for people to register for recreation and cultural programs, as well as view and book the city’s recreation, parks and museum rental spaces, according to a press release.

This includes booking indoor ice rinks, cultural centres, fire pits, sports fields and stadiums.

The new platform is also mobile-responsive and contains improved accessibility features.

There will also be updated self-serve options, including the ability to transfer or withdraw from an activity and to buy memberships online.

You'll also be able to:

  • Access photos of bookable spaces and parks
  • View the number of people on a waitlist
  • Receive notifications in advance of membership expirations
  • View activity results online, such as the grading of swimming programs

The city is offering virtual information sessions to learn about the system, see a demonstration and ask questions on the following dates:

  • Saturday, Oct. 26, from 1 to 2 p.m.
  • Monday, Oct. 28, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 7 to 8 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 3, from 1 to 2 p.m.

Registration for info sessions is available here.

Anyone planning to participate in a recreation or cultural program, book space or get a membership is encouraged to learn more and get ready to use the new system by visiting the city’s informational webpage.
