Citytv’s Breakfast Television will no longer star hosts Meredith Shaw and Sid Seixeiro, according to a surprise Monday morning announcement

During this morning's broadcast, host Devo Brown thanked Shaw and Seixeiro for "plenty of great conversations, laughs and unforgettable moments."

Brown did not reveal why Shaw and Seixeiro will no longer work on the production, or if the hosts were fired from their positions.

"We’re grateful for everything they’ve shared with all of us," Brown said of the now-ex hosts. "We wish them the very best with what comes next. But we know that change is never easy.”

In a post to Instagram, Shaw said the departure has been difficult to process.

"Not gonna lie, this is hard. Deep breath," she started. "Thank you for welcoming me into your homes & hearts. Cohosting @breakfasttelevision with @sid_seixeiro has been such an honour and I’m so proud of the television we have made."

She called Seixeiro "a tremendous teammate and friend." Shaw also thanked her partner, chef Rodney Bowers, and the entire Breakfast Television team for their "guidance, support and friendship throughout every change that’s been thrown our way."

"And finally to you, BT viewers, my gratitude for you has never been deeper as a new chapter begins for your favourite show. I hope I did you proud," Shaw wrote. "I hope you saw me up there on your television and felt seen, I hope you know how much I cherish every conversation I have with you."

Seixeiro issued a brief statement of his own, confirming that Friday was his last day at Breakfast Television.

"Thanks for letting me into your homes and for being so kind," he wrote.

Seixeiro also thanked Rogers, which owns Citytv, for over 13 years of support.

"They allowed me incredible freedom on-air and I’m grateful," he said of the media company.

In a second social media post, Seixeiro thanked Shaw specifically.

"She’s driven, she challenged me every day and made me a better broadcaster," he praised. "I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her. She’s just getting started."

TorontoToday contacted Rogers about the departures but has yet to hear back.
