👮‍♂️ A Toronto police officer was demoted for a year and handed other punishments after he used a “knee-on-neck” restraint and Tased a UofT student during a 2021 arrest — in a case of “mistaken identity.” He has a history and the adjudicating officer said it’s his last chance. 

🏗️ Toronto’s St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts $421 million renovation could go up in (big) smoke. Over $370 million in project costs remain unfunded. Staff are recommending seriously scaling the project back or scrapping it altogether

Commuter corner 

Track work means service from Victoria Park to Kennedy stations ends at 11 p.m. until Thursday. 

Starting at 11 p.m. this week, southbound trains between Finch and Sheppard will use the northbound platform at Downsview Park and Sheppard West Station. Northbound trains will turn back towards Vaughan Metropolitan Centre from Sheppard West Station and use the northbound platform.

Oktoberfest starts on Friday after work and runs all day Saturday.

The largest vintage clothing sale in the country takes over the Queen Elizabeth Building this weekend.

Sabrina Carpenter plays Scotiabank Arena tonight. The Espresso singer is bringing the song of the summer to the city right as fall officially starts.
