The TTC will run a $460,000 pilot project to develop cameras to photograph cars passing open streetcar doors. No fines will be issued during the test. Under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act, a driver must stop and wait at least two metres behind open streetcar doors so riders can enter or exit a streetcar safely. The fine is $183.25 plus three demerit points.
